Correct Answer - Option 3 : B

The correct answer is B.

  • From the equation of Ohm's Law, we have V= IR.
  • Here, V= voltage, I = Current, and R= Resistance.
  • From the question, it is evident that the resistance of the circuit is fixed at 5 ohms.
  • From the equation, V = IR, we can say V is directly proportional to I
  • This implies that voltage and current will have a direct mathematical relation when the resistance of the circuit is kept constant.
  • So, if there is an increase in current in a circuit with 5 ohms resistance (or any resistance of fixed value), the voltage will increase proportionally.

  • The SI unit of resistance is ohms and is denoted by Ω.
  • The SI unit of voltage is volts and is denoted by V.
  • The SI unit of current is ampere and is denoted by A.
  • If an element of an electrical circuit follows the ohm’s law, then the element is known as a linear element. Example- Resistor
  • Limitations of ohms law:
    • Ohm’s law is not applicable to unilateral networks. Unilateral networks allow the current to flow in one direction. Such types of networks consist of elements like a diode, transistor, etc.
    • Ohm’s law is also not applicable to non – linear elements. Non-linear elements are those which do not have current exactly proportional to the applied voltage that means the resistance value of those elements changes for different values of voltage and current. An example of a non-linear element is a thyristor.
    • Ohm’s law is also not applicable to vacuum tubes.
