Correct Answer - Option 2 : struggle with some aspect of learning

Learning disability is “a syndrome found in children of normal or above intelligence characterized by specific difficulties in learning to read (dyslexia), to write (dysgraphia) and to do grade-appropriate mathematics (dyscalculia)”.

  • Learning disability does not mean low intelligence but is caused by a difference in the way the information is received, processed, or communicated in the brain. Children and adults with learning disabilities differ in their way of processing sensory information because they see, hear and understand things differently.
  • A learning disability is a neurological disorder that affects one or more of the basic processes involved in understanding or using spoken or written language.

How to identify a learning disability?

  • Teachers and parents, who are aware of the common signs of learning disabilities in children, will be able to identify the problems early and take remedial measures.
  • The child usually struggles with some aspect of learning.
  • Children with disabilities are at risk for education due to their problems in learning academic skills.
  • The child may be struggling to make grades in school due to difficulty in reading, writing, or calculation.
  • Some children may also have poor motor coordination which affects hand-eye coordination, like holding a pencil or buttoning.
  • People with learning disabilities are of average or above-average intelligence.

Hence, we can conclude that students with a learning disability struggle with some aspect of learning.
