Correct Answer - Option 4 : 160 : 187

Given:

The income of A is Rs. 25000

The income of B is Rs. 30000

Formula:

Saving = Income – Expenditure

Calculation:

According to problem

Expenditure of A on food and transportation = \(\frac{{25000 \times 40}}{{100}}\)

⇒ Rs. 10000

The remaining amount of A will be = 25000 - 10000

⇒ Rs. 15000

Expenditure of A on others = \(\frac{{15000 \times 20}}{{100}}\)

⇒ Rs. 3000

Saving of A = Income – Total expenditure

⇒ 25000-10000-3000

⇒ Rs. 12000

Saving of A is  Rs 12000

Now,

Expenditure of B on food and transportation = \(\frac{{30000 \times 45}}{{100}}\)

⇒ Rs. 13500

The remaining amount of B = 30000 – 13500

⇒ Rs. 16500

Expenditure of B on other expenses =  \(\frac{{16500 \times 15}}{{100}}\)

⇒ Rs. 2475

Saving of B = Income – total expenditure

⇒ 30000 – 13500 – 2475

⇒ Rs. 14025

Saving of B is Rs. 14025

The ratio of A and B = 12000 : 14025

160 : 187

The required ratio is 160 : 187
