Calculation:

condition 1

(a + b)2 > (a - b)2

⇒ a² + 2ab + b² > a² - 2ab + b² 

⇒ 2ab > -2ab

⇒ 4ab > 0

⇒ ab > 0      ----1

condition 2

a = b      ----2

∴ here we conclude that (a + b)2 > (a - b)2 is sufficient to answer question but a = b is not sufficient to answer question
