Best answer
Correct Answer - Option 3 : x ≤ y

Calculation:

From I,

2x2 + 10x + 8 = 0

⇒ 2x2 + 8x + 2x + 8 = 0

⇒ 2x(x+4) + 2(x+4) = 0

⇒ (2x+2) (x+4) = 0

Taking,

⇒ 2x + 2 = 0 or x + 4 = 0

⇒ x = 1, 4

From II,

3y2 2y  5 =0

⇒ 3y2 + 3y  5y  5 = 0

⇒ 3y(y+1) 5(y+1) = 0

⇒ (3y5) (y+1) = 0

Taking,

⇒ 3y – 5 = 0 or y + 1 = 0

⇒ y = 5/3, 1

Values of x Values of y Relation
1 5/3 x < y
4 5/3 x < y
1 1 x = y
4 1 x < y

∴ Relation between x and y is, x ≤ y.
