Correct Answer - Option 3 : Bituminous Primers

Concept:

Bituminous Primers:

  • Bitumen Primer is commonly used for priming concrete and masonry surfaces prior to the application of the first mopping coat of melted bitumen in laying built-up roofing or membrane waterproofing, so as to promote the bonding of the bitumen with the concrete roof deck or masonry surface.
  • Bituminous primers are generally prepared on road sites by mixing penetration bitumen with petroleum distillate.

Cutback Bitumen:

  • It is defined as bitumen whose viscosity has been reduced by the addition of volatile dilutants.

Modified Bitumen:

  • It is defined as a heavy roofing material employing multiple layers of asphalt and reinforcers around a core of plastic or rubber modifiers.

Bitumen Emulsion:

  • It is defined as a bitumen emulsion is a liquefied type of bitumen with a low viscosity.
  • By dispersing bitumen in water and adding an emulsifier, ordinary bitumen turns into a low viscosity liquid that can easily be used in a variety of applications, including repairing and maintaining roads, waterproofing, spraying, etc.
