Given:

Excluding stoppages, the speed of a bus = 60 km/h

Including stoppages, the speed of a bus = 48 km/h

Formula used:

Time = Distance/Speed

Calculations:

In one hour

Distance travelled excluding stoppage = 60 km

Distance travelled including stoppage = 48 km

Difference in distance = 60 – 48 = 12 km

Because of the stoppage, 12 km less is travelled

So, stoppage time per hour = 12/60 = 1/5 h

⇒ 60/5 = 12 minutes
