Correct Answer - Option 1 : 8 litre

Given:

The initial ratio of A and B is 1 : 4

Amount of B becomes 44 litres

Concept used:

When some fraction of mixture is taken out then the ratio of the remaining mixture is the same

Calculation:

Let the initial ratio of the mixture be x and 4x respectively

And, 25% of the mixture is taken out then the quantity of mixture becomes 3x/4 and 3x

Now, According to the question:

3x + 20 = 44

⇒ 3x = 24

⇒ x = 8

∴ The initial Amount of A is 8 litre
