Correct Answer - Option 2 : 1.2 kmph

Given:

Distance downstream = 60 km

Distance upstream = 36 km

Time taken = 10 h

Calculations:

Speed downstream = Distance / time = 60/10 = 6 kmph

Speed upstream = Distance / time = 36/10 = 3.6 kmph

∴ velocity of the current = (1/2)(Speed downstream – Speed upstream)

⇒ velocity of the current = (1/2)(6 – 3.6)

⇒ velocity of the current = 2.4/2

⇒ velocity of the current = 1.2 kmph

The velocity of the current is 1.2 kmph.
