Best answer
Correct Answer - Option 5 : x = y or the relation cannot be determined

Calculation:

I. 3x2 + 16x + 13 = 0

⇒ 3x2 + 3x + 13x + 13 = 0

⇒ 3x(x +1) + 13(x +1) = 0

⇒ x = - 13/3 or x = - 1

II. y2 + 9y – 36 = 0

⇒ y2 + 12y – 3y – 36 = 0

⇒ y(y + 12) – 3(y + 12) = 0

⇒ y = - 12 or y = 3
Comparison between x and y (via Tabulation):

Value of x Value of y Relation
-13/3 -12 x > y
-13/3 3 x < y
-1 -12 x > y
-1 3 x < y
∴ Relation between x and y can't be established
