National Policy of Education 1986

  •  In 1986, the government led by Rajiv Gandhi introduced a new National Policy on Education.

  • The provision of NPE on Teacher Education, a centrally sponsored scheme of restructuring and reorganization of teacher education was approved in October 1987.

University Education Commission 1948 - 49

  • The Government of India appointed a University Education Commission under the chairmanship of Dr. Radhakrishnan in November 1948.

Secondary Education Commission 1952 - 53

  • Mudaliar Commission is also known as the Secondary education commission.
  • In 1952 Union Government of India appointed Dr. A Laxman Swami Mudaliar as a chairman of the secondary education commission.
  • The aim of this commission was to examine the existing system of secondary education in the country.

Therefore, the Establishment of DIETs as a result of one of the recommendations of the National Policy of Education 1986.
