  • The poem consists of 50,000 couplets which poetically depicts Iran’s creation. 
  • Shahnama is one of the world's largest epic poems written by a single poet and the national epic of Greater Iran.
  • Ferdowsi belonged to the class of dehqans, they were Iranians who used to own lands. They were flourished under the Sassanid dynasty.

 About Abdul Rahim Khan-i-Khanan

  • Abdul Rahim Khan-i-Khanan (1556 –1627), popularly known as simply Rahimwas a poet who lived in India during the rule of Mughal emperor Akbar.
  • He was one of the nine important ministers (dewan) in his court, also known as the Navaratnas.
  • Abdul Rahim was the son of Bairam Khan, Akbar's trusted guardian and mentor.
  • Rahim was also a poet par excellence and his poetry and dohas are compared with those by Bhakti poets Surdas, Tulsidas and Kabir.
  • Apart from writing various dohas, Rahim translated Babar's memoirs, Baburnama from Chagatai language to the Persian language.
  • In Sanskrit, he wrote two books on astrology, Khetakautukam and Dwatrimshadyogavali.
