  • The Mandsaur Fort is known as the Dashpur Fort because of its ancient name Duspur. It is located in the Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh.
  • The fort is surrounded by an outer wall and has twelve gates. The south-east gate of this fort is known as Nadi Darwaja. It is built by Alauddin Khilji.
  • Alauddin Khalji is also known as Ali Gurshasp born in 1266 AD and ruled as Sultan of Delhi from 1296-1316 AD.
  • He was the nephew and a son-in-law of his predecessor Jalaluddin. Alauddin Khilji was the first Muslim ruler who extended his empire right up to the South of India.

  • The ancient name of the Mandsaur district was DuspurMandsaur is known as the birthplace of Mandodari (wife of Ravana)
  • The Hingalgarh fort is situated here. In Mandsaur, India's only Lord Pashupathinath temple is situated in the district on the banks of the Shivna river.
