Correct Answer - Option 1 : 15

Given:

7220x558y2 is divisible by 88.

Concept:

For a number to be divisible be 88, it should be divisible by 11 and 8.

For a number to be divisible by 8, the last three digits of the number should be divisible by 8.

For a number to be divisible by 11, the difference of the sum of the alternate numbers should be zero or multiple of 11.

Calculation:

Putting y = 3, the last 3 digits become 832, which is divisible by 8.

⇒ The difference of (7 + 2 + x + 5 + 3) and (2 + 0 + 5 + 8 + 2) should be zero or multiple of 11.

⇒ 17 + x - 17 = 0

⇒ x = 0

∴ (5x + 5y) = 5(0) + 5(3) = 0 + 15 = 15
