Correct Answer - Option 4 : 120 km/h

Given,

Train 'A' runs at a speed of 80 kmph and leaves station 'X' at 11 a.m. Train 'B' leaves station 'X' at 11.15 a.m. in the same direction. On the same day.

Station 'Y' located at a distance of 60 km.

The train 'A' will reach the station 'Y' at,

Time = \(Distance / Speed\)

Time = 60/80 = 3/4 hr = 45 min.

∴ The train 'A' will reach the station 'Y' at 11:45 a.m.

∴ To catch train 'A' at the station 'Y', the train 'B' must reach at 11:45 a.m. to the station 'Y'.

So, the train 'B' leaves the station 'X' at 11:15 a.m. and to catch the train 'A', the train 'B' must travel 60 km in 30 min (1/2 hr).

∴ Speed = \(Distance / Time \)

∴ Speed = 60 ÷ 1/2 = 60 × 2 = 120 kmph

Hence, the correct answer is 120 km/h.
