In the question below is given a statement followed by two assumptions. You have to assume everything in the statement to be true and decide which of the assumption logically follows beyond a reasonable doubt from the information given in the statement.

Statements:

A advises B, “Take a bus to travel to Goa from Mumbai via the shortest route."

Assumptions:

I. A has a habit of advising everybody.

II. B wishes to go to Goa.

1. Only assumption I is implicit
2. Only assumption II is implicit
3. Both I and II are implicit

Correct Answer - Option 2 : Only assumption II is implicit

As the statement does not mention the advices given by A to anyone else other than B, it is not possible to assume that A has a habit of advising people.

Therefore, assumption I is not implicit.

However, since A is offering an advice on how to travel from Mumbai to Goa via the shortest route, it can be assumed that B is thinking of travelling to Goa. A person with critical thinking does not give advice on travelling to a person who he/she knows isn't interested in it.

Therefore, assumption II is implicit.

Hence, only assumption II is implicit.
