Correct Answer - Option 2 : 38.88%

Given:

Profit while purchasing = 25%

Profit while selling = 10%

Formula used:

Gain percent = [(SP – CP)/100] × 100

Calculation:

Let the CP of 1000 gm of the article be Rs. 1000

According to the question,

The shopkeeper gets a profit of 25% while buying

⇒ He buys 1000 + (25/100) × 1000 = 1250 gm of goods for Rs. 1000

He cheated to 10% while selling the goods

⇒ He sells 1000 – (10/100) × 1000 = 900 for Rs. 1000

⇒ He gets a profit of 1250 – 900 = 350 gm

⇒ Overall profit = (350/900) × 100 = 38.88%

The overall profit is 38.88%
