Anganwadi and ICDS Mission-

  • Anganwadi Services Scheme is a centrally sponsored scheme implemented by the States / UTs as per the guidelines/instructions issued by the Government of India. This scheme comes under the ICDS programme of GOI.
  • Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS)  provides food, preschool education, and primary healthcare to children under 6 years of age and their mothers.
  • The main objectives of ICDS are
    • To improve the nutritional and health status of children in the age-group 0-6 years;
    • To lay the foundation for proper psychological, physical and social development of the child;
    • To reduce the incidence of mortality, morbidity, malnutrition and school dropout;
    • To achieve effective co-ordination of policy and implementation amongst the various departments to promote child development
    • To enhance the capability of the mother to look after the normal health and nutritional needs of the child through proper nutrition and health education.

Pradhan Mantri Matruvandana Yojana-

  • The Pradhan Mantri Matruvandana Yojana (PMMVY) was launched in 2016 as a flagship maternity benefits programme of the Government of India.
  • This scheme runs under the aegis of the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
  • The scheme is aimed at pregnant or lactating women aged 19 years or above for the first live birth.
  • The programme provides partial compensation for wage loss during childbirth and afterwards during childcare.
  • It also aims to provide information on good feeding and nutrition for mother and child pursuant to the National Food Security Act, 2013.
  • PMMVY is implemented through a centrally deployed Web Based MIS Software application and the main point of implementation would be the Anganwadi Centre (AWC) and ASHA/ ANM, workers.

National Nutrition Mission-

  • The goals of NNM are to achieve improvement in nutritional status of Children from 0-6 years, Adolescent Girls, Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers in a time-bound manner during the next three years beginning 2017-18.
  • The Scheme launched by the Ministry of Women And Child Development.
  • The main purpose of the POSHAN Abhiyaan is to improve the nutritional status of children and reduce the level of under-nutrition. Hence all the statements are correct.
