Calculation:

For statement I:

6 years before, let the age of Sia = x and the age of Mia = x - 6

At present their ages will be

⇒ Sia = x + 6

⇒ Mia = x - 6 + 6 = x

For statement II:

The ratio of x + 6 and x is given therefore, by combining both statements we can find the answer.

∴ Both statements together are necessary.
