Correct Answer - Option 2 : Dyne

CONCEPT:

  • Force: A force is a push or pulls upon an object resulting from the object's interaction with another object.
    • Whenever there is an interaction between two objects, there is a force upon each of the objects.
  • Unit of force: The second law of motion proposed by Newton, force is defined or expressed as the product of mass and acceleration.

EXPLANATION:

  • In the CGS system of units, the unit of mass is gram or g, and the unit of acceleration is cm/s2. Therefore, the CGS unit of force is g cm/s2. which is called dyne or Dyn.
  • One dyne is equal to 10 μN (micro-newtons) or to 10 nsn (nano-sthenes) in the old meter-tonne-second system of units. Equivalently, the dyne is defined as "the force required to accelerate a mass of gram at a rate of one centimeter per second squared".
  • Hence option 2 is the answer.
