Correct Answer - Option 2 : 144 km

Given:

The speed of the A = 12 km/h

The speed of the B = 24 km/h

Formula used:

\(S\ =\ {D\over T}\)     (Where S = Speed, D = Distance, and T = Time)

If A and B travel in opposite directions to each other then relative speed = (Speed of the A) + (Speed of the B)

If A and B travel in the same direction to each other then relative speed = (Speed of the A) - (Speed of the B)

Calculation:

⇒ The distance travelled by A in 6 hours = 12 × 6 = 72 km

⇒ The relative speed of A and B = 24 - 12 = 12 km/h

⇒ The time is taken by B to catch A = \({72\over 12}\ =\ 6\ hours\)

⇒ The distance traveled by B in 6 hours from point P = 24 × 6 = 144 km

∴ The required result will be 144 km.
