  • Shah Jahan was born as Prince Shihab-ud-din Muhammad Khurram, his name means "joyful" in the Persian language.
  • His Grandfather "Akbar the Great" gave him the name "Khurram".
  • He was the originator of the monument Taj Mahal, the Moti Masjid in Lahore- now in Pakistan, Jama Masjid of Delhi, Section of Agra Fort, and the Wazir Khan Mosque Red Fort of Delhi.
  • During his reign, Mughal Capital was transferred from Agra to Delhi.

  • Jahangir:
    • Jahangir was the eldest son of Akbar.
    • He died in Kashmir where he had gone to rejuvenate his health. He was 58.
    • He reigned from 1605 to 1627. He defeated and imprisoned his son, Khusrau Mirza.
    • He beheaded Guru Arjun, the 5th Sikh Guru.
  • Aurangzeb:

    • Akbar was given the nickname 'the Great' because of his many accomplishments.
    • Akbar had nine ministers in his court, who were called his Navratnas or '9 gems'
    • He died in 1605.
