  • The sanctuary is rich in fauna. Rare mammals such as Mishmi takin, musk deer, red goral, red panda, Asian black bear, occasional tiger and Gongshan muntjac occur, while rare birds include Sclater's monal and Blyth's tragopan.
  • A flying squirrel, new to science, has recently been discovered at the edge of this sanctuary. It was named the Mishmi Hills giant flying squirrel (Petaurista mishmiensis).
