Correct Answer - Option 2 : 249/8

Given:

Divisor is 8 times the quotient and 5 times the remainder and the remainder is 3

Formula used:

Dividend = Divisor × Quotient + Remainder

Calculation:

Let the divisor be d and dividend be D and remainder and quotient is taken as q and r

It is given that divisor is 8 times the quotient and 5 times of remainder

∴ d = 8q and d = 5r

Now, remainder is 3

∴ d = 5r = 5 × 3 = 15

Now, also d = 8q

∴ q = 15/8

We know the property Dividend = Divisor × Quotient + Remainder

∴ D = (15/8) × 15 + 3 = 249/8

Hence, option (2) is correct
