Correct Answer - Option 3 : A

Given:

Profit% = 4%

Increased profit% = 10%

Difference = Rs. 3

Concept used:

SP = (100 + Profit%) of CP

Calculation:

Let the CP of an item be Rs. x.

Required difference = SP at 10% – SP at 4%

⇒ 3 = (100 + 10)% of x – (100 + 4)% of x

⇒ 3 = 110/100 × x – 104/100 × x

⇒ 3 = x(110 – 104)/100

⇒ 300 = 6x

⇒ x = Rs. 50

SP at 4% = (100 + 4)% of x

⇒ SP at 4% = 104/100 × 50

SP at 4% = Rs. 52

SP at 10% = (100 + 10)% of x

⇒ SP at 10% = 110/100 × 50

⇒ SP at 10% = Rs. 55

Required ratio = SP at 4% ∶ SP at 10%

⇒ Required ratio = 52 ∶ 55

∴ The ratio of the selling price of both is 52 ∶ 55.
