A shaft revolving at ω rad/s transmits torque (T) in N-m. The power developed is
1. T × ω Watts
2. 2πTω Watts
3. \( \frac{{2\pi T\omega}}{{75}}\) Watts
4. \( \frac{{2\pi T\omega}}{{4500}}\) Watts

Best answer
Correct Answer - Option 1 : T × ω Watts

Explanation:

Power Transmitted by a shaft is given by:

\(P= \frac{{2\pi NT}}{{60}}\)       ----(1)

where P is power transmitted, N is the speed in rpm, T is the torque applied

Angular velocity (ω) of the shaft is given by:

 \(ω = \frac{{2\pi N}}{{60}}\)

Putting the value of \( \frac{{2\pi N}}{{60}}\) in equation 1, we get

Power transmitted,

P = T × ω
