Correct Answer - Option 2 : 48

Given:

The length of the room = 4 m

The breadth of the room = 3 m

Side of the squared tiles = 0.5 m

Concept used:

The total area of tiles must be equal to the area of the floor of the room

Formula used:

Area of the rectangle = (l × b)

Area of the square = (side)2

Number of tiles = (Area of the rectangle room)/(area of the squared tile)

Calculations:

Area of the rectangle = (l × b)

⇒ (4 × 3) = 12 m2

area of the square = (side)2 sq. unit

⇒ (0.5)2

⇒ 0.25 m2

Number of tiles = Area of the rectangle room/area of the squared tile

⇒ 12/0.25

⇒ 1200/25

⇒ 48

∴ Number of tiles required is 48
