  • Article 124:
    • There shall be a Supreme Court of India consisting of a Chief Justice of India and, until Parliament by law prescribes a larger number, of not more than seven other Judges.
    • Every Judge of the Supreme Court shall be appointed by the President by warrant under his hand and seal after consultation.
    • President is authorised to regulate the procedure for the appointment of Chief Justice of India and other judges of Supreme Court.

 

  • The Chief Justice of India and the Judges of the Supreme Court are appointed by the President under clause (2) of Article 124 of the Constitution.
  • The proceedings of the Supreme Court are conducted in English only.
  • Supreme Court Rules, 1966 are framed under Article 145 of the Constitution to regulate the practice and procedure of the Supreme Court.
