Correct Answer - Option 3 : Bedbug

Explanation-

  • Cimex lectularius, the common bed bug, is best known as it prefers to feed on human blood.
  • Bed bugs are mainly active at night but are not exclusively nocturnal.
  • The life cycle of a bed bug-
    • Stage 1 - A female bed bug lays eggs up to 500 eggs. They are white in color. The eggs hatch in two weeks, and nymphs emerge.
    • Stage 2 - The Nymph, which hatches from the egg is the second stage of the life cycle of the bed bug.
    • Stage 3 - It takes five weeks for a nymph to become an adult. An adult bed bug lives for four to six months.
  • Eggs → Nymph → Bed bug

Thereby an insect without pupa stage is a bed bug.

Silkmoth-

  • Silkworms are a group of insects (moths), which are species-specific to their host plants.
  • Silk threads are obtained from the cocoon which is a protective covering around the pupa of these worms.
  • Life Cycle of silkworm
    • Stage 1 - The cycle starts when a female silk moth lays eggs.
    • Stage 2 - The caterpillar of larvae is hatched from the eggs of the silkmoth and they feed on mulberry leaves and consume a large amount of these leaves for around 30 days.
    • Stage 3 -The silkworm spin a protective cocoon around itself.it is the size of a small cotton ball and is made of a single thread of silk.
    • Stage 4 - Then Pupa changes into an adult moth. The female moth lays eggs after mating and thus the life cycle of the silkworm begins again.
  • Eggs → Caterpillar → Pupa → Butterfly

Mosquito-

  • Common mosquitoes are Anopheles, Culex, and Aedes.
  • They are small nocturnal insects.
  • The developmental stages of an adult mosquito, from its egg to an adult, is called metamorphosis.
  • The life cycle of a mosquito
    • Stage 1 - Mosquito Egg eggs are small, nearly 200-300 eggs. This stage lasts for 24-48 hours.
    • Stage 2 - Larva emerges out from the egg within 48 hours they eat algae and small organisms in the water. This stage lasts for 7-14 days.
    • Stage 3 - Pupa formed from larva, floats in water. This is the hibernating stage when the pupa does not eat and only rest/sleep. This stage lasts for 1-4 days.
    • Stage 4 - Adult mosquito splits the pupa case and comes out on the surface of the water. Female mosquito feeds on blood.
  • Eggs → Larva→ Pupa → Mosquito
