1. The phenomenon due to which the natural frequency of a given body corresponds to the frequency of sound impressed on it, such that it rapidly starts vibrating is called resonance. 

2. The resonance takes place only when the natural frequency of a given body is equal to the frequency of sound impressed on it, whereas during forced vibration a body is forced to vibrate with the frequency of sound impressed on it.
