Correct Answer - Option 1 : there is no rotation or displacement of joints

Concept:

Pin Joint:

  • Only axial force and shear force can be transferred from one member to another if they are joined by a pin joint.
  • A pin join doesn't resist moment or rotation.
  • It resists only horizontal and vertical movement.

Rigid Joint:

  • Axial force, shear force, Bending moment can be transferred from one member to another if they are joined by a Rigid joint.
  • A rigid joint resists rotation.
  • It is resisting the relative horizontal movement as well as relative vertical movement.

Hence, When a load is applied to a structure with rigid joints, there is no rotation or displacement of joints.
