The weir equation for the discharge passing over a spillway is given by:

\(Q = C\sqrt {2g} LH^{3/2}\)

where,

Q = flow rate (m3/s)

C = dimensionless coefficient of discharge

L = The effective crest length perpendicular to the flow (m)

H = the total head on the crest (m)
