Correct Answer - Option 4 : 5 L

Given:

Initial ratio = 3 : 1

20% water added + original amount = 2 liter

Calculation:

Let capacity of vessel be X

⇒ Now 2 liters of water are present after transfer = Remaining amount of water + 20% of water replaced

⇒ 2 = ((0.80 × X) × (1/4)) + (0.20 × X)

⇒ 2 = ((0.20 × X) + (0.20 × X)

⇒ 2 = 0.40 × X

⇒ (2/0.40) = X

⇒ X = 5

Capacity of vessel is 5 liters
