The correct answer is 1 only.

 

  • Harshavardhana belonged to the Pushyabhuti dynasty. Hence, Statement 1 is correct.
  • The capital of his Empire was Kannuaj. (Pataliputra was the capital of the Mauryan Empire) Hence, Statement 3 is incorrect.
  • Fa-Hien visited India during the reign of Chandragupta II.
  • Hiuen-Tsang a Chinese pilgrim visited Harsha’s court. Hence, Statement 2 is incorrect.

 Harshavardhana:

  • He ruled from 606 AD to 647 AD.
  • His Empire extended from Punjab to northern Orissa and from the Himalayas to the bank of the Narmada River.
  • He assumed the title of Maharajadhiraja.
  • He succeeded the throne in 606 A.D at the age of sixteen after his elder brother Rajyavardhana was killed by Sasanka. 
  • He was also known as Sakalottarapathanatha.
  • After ascending the throne he rescued his sister Rajyasri and moved towards Sasanka with an unsuccessful attempt.
  • He faced a defeat at the hands of Pulakesin II, Chalukya king of Badami.
