Special Officer for Linguistic Minorities:

  • State’s Reorganization Commission, made a recommendation to constitute a Special Officer for Linguistic Minorities.
    • It shall be the duty of the Special Officer to investigate all matters relating to the safeguards provided for linguistic minorities under this Constitution.
    • Report to the President upon those matters at such intervals as the President may direct.
    •  President shall cause all such reports to be laid before each House of Parliament.

National Commission for Backward Classes:

  • The 102nd Amendment Act, 2018 granted Constitutional status to the National Commission of Backward Classes.
  • It added Article 338-B to the Indian Constitution.  

The Election Commission:

  • The Election Commission of India is an autonomous constitutional authority responsible for administering Union and State election processes in India.
  • Originally the commission had only one election commissioner but after the Election Commissioner Amendment Act 1989, it has been made a multi-member body.
  • The commission consists of one Chief Election Commissioner and two Election Commissioners.
  • When any other Election Commissioner is so appointed the Chief Election Commissioner shall act as the Chairman of the Election Commission.
