Correct Answer - Option 2 : 18 km

Given:

John travels a distance by bike =\(\frac{2}{3}^{rd} \) of the total distance

John travels a distance by foot = 6 km

Calculation:

Let us take the total distance travelled be x

John travels a distance by foot  = x - \(\frac{2}{3} \)x ⇒ \(\frac{1}{3} \) x          -----------------------(I)

John travels a distance by foot = 6 km                   -----------------------(ii)

Equating (I) and (ii)

6 = \(\frac{1}{3} \)x

x = 18 km

∴ The total distance travelled = 18 km
