Concept:

Charging current = VωC

Where,

V = Voltage in volts

ω = 2πf = Angular frequency

f = Supply frequency in Hz 

C = Equivalent capacitance

Calculation:

Given that, voltage (V) = 500 kV

Frequency (f) = 50 Hz

Capacitance = 2 nF/km

Charging current (Ic) = 500 × 103 × 2π × 50 × 2 × 10-9

= 0.1 π A
