  • To resolve the problem of landless peasants Vinobha Bhave started the Bhoodan movement in 1951.
  • In response to an appeal by Vinoba Bhave, some land owing class agreed to the voluntary donation of some part of the land.
  • This led to the birth of the Bhoodan Movement.
  • Later, Bhoodan gave way to the Gramdan movement which began in 1952.
