Correct Answer - Option 1 : Rowlatt Act

The Correct Answer is Rowlatt Act.

  • The Rowlatt Act 1919 gave the government enormous powers to repress political activities and allowed the detention of political prisoners without trial for two years.
  • The Act would thus also enable the Government to suspend the right of habeas Corpus which had been the foundation of civil liberties in Britain.
  • Mohammed Ali Jinnah, Madan Mohan Malaviya, and Mazhar-ul-Huq resigned from their membership of the central legislative council against the passage of the Rowlatt Act 1919.

  • The East India Stock Dividend Redemption Act 1873 was an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom.
  • It was passed in 1873, which formally dissolved the British East India Company.
  • The Regulating Act, (1773) was legislation passed by the British Parliament for the regulation of the British East India Company's Indian territories.
  • The term Government of India Act refers to any one of a series of Acts passed by the Parliament of the United Kingdom to regulate the government of British India.
