Correct Answer - Option 1 : Rs.15,300

Given:

Successive discount% = 15% and 10%

Marked price of washing machine = Rs.20,000

Concept used:

If two successive discount percent is x% and y%

Then, Effective discount% = x + y – (xy/100)

Selling price = Marked price – Discount

Calculation:

Effective discount% = 15 + 10 – {(15 × 10)/100}

⇒ 23.5%

Discount = Rs. 20, 000 × (23.5/100)

⇒ Rs.4,700

Selling price = Marked price – Discount

Selling price = Rs. (20000 – 4700)

⇒ Rs.15,300

∴ Selling price of Washing machine is Rs. 15,300
