Correct Answer - Option 3 : crashing

Explanation:

Crashing:

Crashing is an iterative process of reduction in time of various activity below normal time to obtain the minimum or optimum total cost of the project and the corresponding optimum duration of the project.

Steps in crashing:

  • Draw the network diagram.
  • Find the critical path of the network.
  • Find the cost slope of every activity.
  • Draw a time scale diagram of the network.
  • Without crashing find the direct cost of the project, the indirect cost of the project, and the total cost of the project.
  • Start crashing the activity having the least cost slope along the critical path of the network
  • Every activity is crashed until its crashing potential is exhausted or a new critical path is obtained.
  • Continue crashing till there is no further scope of crashing.
  • For every stage of crashing, find the direct cost of the project, the indirect cost of the project, and the total cost of the project.
  • The crashing analysis is continued until the point of minimum total cost and the corresponding optimum duration is obtained.
