Concept:

Power transmitted by a belt is given by:

P = (T1 – T2) × v

where P = power transmitted through belt, T1 = tension in the tight side, T2 = tension in the slack side, v = velocity of belt

Calculation:

Given:

T1 = 1500 N, T2 = 1000 N, v = 1 km/min = 16.68 m/s

Now, from the given formula we have,

P = (1500 - 1000) × 16.68 = 8340 W = 8.3 kW

P = 8.3 kW
