Given:

Ram gives 15% of salary to his wife and 40% of remaining expend on household expenditure

Amount donate in prime minister relief fund = 21% of salary

Ram saves = Rs.18,000

Concept:

If A is x% of B

Than, x% = (A/B) × 100

Calculation:

Let Ram’s salary of May 2020 = Rs.100x

Amount give to his wife = (15/100) × 100x

⇒ Rs.15x

Remaining amount = 100x – 15x

⇒ Rs.85x

Household expenditure = (40/100) × 85x

⇒ Rs.34x

Donate in prime minister relief fund = (21/100) × 100x

⇒ Rs.21x

Saving amount = 100x – 15x – 34x – 21x

⇒ Rs30x

30x = 18000

⇒ x = 600

Salary of Ram in May 2020 = 100 × 600

⇒ Rs.60,000

∴ Salary of Ram in May 2020 is Rs.60,000.
