Correct Answer - Option 3 : Democratic values

Religious values:

  • Religious Values reflect the beliefs and practices which a religious adherent partakes in. Most values originate from sacred texts of each respective religion. They can also originate from members of the religion.
  • Being religious does not indicate that certain religions are opposed to particular attitudes or encourage them. These values are also evident in secular society as it shares similarities.
  • Religious education emphasizes respect for others, regardless of their beliefs, race, or social status. In our diverse society, children need an understanding of other principal religions and other world views.
  • In teaching about the beliefs and traditions of other people, the subject promotes discernment and enables pupils to combat prejudice. Such tolerance is vital in a world that is increasingly fraught with extremism, division, and hatred.

Moral values

  • Moral Value refers to the good virtues such as honesty, integrity, truthfulness, helpfulness, love, respectfulness, hard-work, etc.
  • Students are the future of India. The future of our country depends upon the moral values convey to them during their student life.
  • Moral Values are the worthy principles that one follows to distinguish right from wrong. These virtues are considered worthy in building up the character of an individual.

Democratic value

  • Shechtman stated the democratic values or beliefs that a teacher should have are freedom, equality, and justice.
  • Winfield and Manning enumerated democratic values or principles as autonomy, cooperation, shared decision-making, and a sense of community.
  • The democratic principles as applicable in education are the freedom to education, equality to all, fraternity or brotherhood in education, sharing responsibility in education, cooperation in education, etc.

Scientific values

  • Scientific values help to develop a scientific outlook towards life, such as developing our ability to ask questions, collect information, organize and test our ideas, solve problems, and apply what we learn.
  • It averts social dogma and develops an objective outlook.
  • It develops in students objectivity, honesty, openness, fairness, etc.

Conclusion: from the above discussion, it is very clear that democratic values teach us about co-operation. Here the activity between the teacher and the student is an example of co-operation which is an example of democratic value. So option (3) is correct.
