Correct Answer - Option 1 : 6.25%

Given,

John used to buy petrol at the rate of Rs. 80 per liter till last month.

Now he buys it at the rate of Rs. 85 per liter.

Increase in percentage = (85 – 80)/ 80 × 100

= 5/ 80 × 100

= 0. 0625 × 100 = 6.25

Hence, “6.25 %” is the correct answer.
