Correct Answer - Option 2 : 3

Given:

Points (6, 7) and (A, 4)

Distance between points = √18 units

Formula Used:

(Distance)2 = (x1 – x2)2 + (y1 – y2)2

Calculation:

(Distance)2 = (x1 – x2)2 + (y1 – y2)2

⇒ (√18)2 = (6 – A)2 + (7 – 4)2

⇒ 18 = (6 – A)2 + 32

⇒ (6 – A)2 = 18 – 9

⇒ (6 – A)2 = 9

Take square root on both the sides

⇒ (6 – A) = 3

⇒ A = 6 – 3

⇒ A = 3

∴ The value of A is 3.
