Correct Answer - Option 4 : 4√13

Given:

Points (9, 7) and (-3, -1)

Formula Used:

(Distance)2 = (x1 – x2)2 + (y1 – y2)2

Calculation:

(Distance)2 = (x1 – x2)2 + (y1 – y2)2

⇒ (Distance)2 = [9 – (-3)]2 + [7 – (-1)]2

⇒ (Distance)2 = (9 + 3)2 + (7 + 1)2

⇒ (Distance)2 = (12)2 + (8)2

⇒ (Distance)2 = 144 + 64

⇒ Distance = √208

⇒ Distance = 4√13

∴ The distance between the points (9, 7) and (-3, -1) is 4√13 units.
