Consider the following statements about the Luni River.

  • Luni River is one of the most important rivers of the Rajasthan.
    • It is also called Lavanvati.
    • Luni Basin is a part of Western Arid Desert
    • Origin - Nag Hills (Anasagar-Ajmer)
    • At the origin, it is called Sagarmati.
      • Near Govindgarh it mixes with Saraswati River which comes from Pushkar.
      • Later it is called Luni.
    • Its water remains fresh till Balotara (Barmer) and later becomes salty. Hence statement 'c' is incorrect.
    • It ends in Rann of Kuchh (Arabian Sea).

  • Luni Basin - 69302 sq km
    • It covers 11 districts.
    • Tributaries:
      • From Aravali i.e. Left 
        • Jawai, Khari, Sukdi, Bandi, Saagi, Guhiya, Mithadi
      • From Right
        • Jojadi
