Correct Answer - Option 2 : 5000, 7000

Given:

Ratio of income of A and B = 5 : 7

Ratio of expenditure of A and B = 3 : 4

Savings of A = 1400

Savings of B = 2200

Formula used:

Income – Savings = Expenditure

Calculation:

Let the income of A and B is 5x and 7x respectively.

Then, their expenditure is {(5x – 1400)/(7x – 2200)} = (3/4)

⇒ 4 (5x – 1400) = 3 (7x – 2200)

⇒ 20x – 5600 = 21x – 6600

⇒ 21x – 20x = 6600 – 5600

⇒ x = 1000

Income of A = 5 × 1000

⇒ 5000

Income of B = 7 × 1000

⇒ 7000

∴ Income of A and B is 5000 and 7000 respectively.
