In a hydroelectric power station, 1000kg of water is allowed to drop a height of 100 in in ¡ s. If the conversion of potential energy to electric energy is 60%, calculate the power output.

Power out put = (mgh/t) = (work done)/time

p x 100/60 =(1000 x 10 x 100)/1

p = (106 x 10 x 60)/100 = 6 x 105w.
